| The London Tari Club (‘Lontar’
for short) is strictly and exclusively a private
members club whose underlying aim is to promote
close social and fraternal relationship amongst
its specially vetted members and their respective
families. Its activities are expressly non-political,
non-governmental, non-partisan and non-secretive.
It is essentially a high profile UK-based networking
social club of close friends. |
| The club was founded in London
on Sunday 9th March 1997 by a group of friends as
a forum for social interaction amongst busy professionals,
intellectuals and socialites from different disciplines
and business backgrounds. It provides a useful platform
and unique opportunities for members to share common
goals, explore and promote positive ideals within
a framework of mutual support and co-operation.
Quality use of time within a mutually supportive
and creative environment underpins the core values
of the club. |
| The club reaches out to the wider
community through its well known ethos of “a
friend of a member is a friend of the club”
and its annual support of a number of Charities. |
| Lontar is an Ijaw-oriented club,
all club members being of Ijaw heritage. Indeed,
the word “Tari” (part of the club’s
name) derives from the Ijaw dialect meaning “oneness”
or “to cherish”. |
